Utopia Works: Energy Hack seeks to activate conversations around energy and the themes of industry, engineering and making.
We are inviting makers, hackers, artists, academics, volunteers, designers, museum professionals, energy experts, employers and employees from industry, to make a factory (works) of utopian thinking and making, which will bring together research, community and creative partners in an enterprise of co-production.
Thomas More was the first to give a name and form to an idea that has captured human imagination throughout history: that by imagining a better world is possible, we are empowered to create it.
In the 500th anniversary year of the publication of Utopia, Derby Museums together with the AHRC Connected Communities project Stories of Change, intend the Utopia Works event to create a space where creative and participatory processes can help provoke thinking about new and alternative energy futures.
The outcomes of the day will be showcased at Somerset House, London at the AHRC Connected Communities Utopias Fair in June 2016. They will also be presented on the Stories of Change online platform.
